Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Management Systems in the Developed and the Developing Countries: A Comparative Structural Study
The disposal, treatment, and recovery of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) are becoming a global environmental issue. These issues drive the developed and the developing countries to set up and improve the management systems for the waste. Previous authors have produced a sufficient number of study on WEEE management systems of the developed countries together with their success stories and of the developing countries with their existing problems, but only provide limited ones on how to compare the situations and the systems of these two regions. Hence, it is imperative to develop a comparative framework to distinguish the structures and the relationships within a particular WEEE management system of the developed and developing countries. This study proposes such framework which integrates a qualitative with quantitative approaches and incorporates the system thinking perspective. In particular, it comprises a series of research stages. Initially, a qualitative framework is developed to extract the characteristics of WEEE management systems in the developing countries from the scientific literature and then to compare them with the ones from the developed systems. Secondly, a System Dynamics approach is applied to assess the dynamical behaviors within the systems of the two regions. Thirdly, enhanced quantitative analysis, consist of Factorial Design with Analysis of Variance and then Policy Analysis, are conducted to further understand the determinants and interactions among the factors in the systems and to assess the impact of the selected policies on the systems’ behaviors. This study figures out the list of the determinants, the structural relationships, and the dynamics within the systems, characterizing and connecting the WEEE-specific problems in the developed and the developing countries. This study concludes the main findings and the policy recommendations for the future development and collaboration within and between the two regions.

Analisis Ergonomi Industri Garmen Dengan Posture Evaluation Index Pada Virtual Environment
Ergonomic Analysis of Garment Industry using Posture Evaluation Index (PEI) in Virtual Environment. This research tried to study, in a virtual environment, the ergonomics of four divisions in garment industry: cutting division, sewing division, button division, and finishing division. Variables that influence the working conditions in each division are different; depend on the real situations that happened. The purpose is to assess the real working conditions based on ergonomics study using Posture Evaluation Index (PEI). PEI integrates the scores of low back analysis (LBA), ovako working posture (OWAS), and rapid upper limb assessment (RULA). Analysis phase was done using digital human model in virtual environment that available on Jack 6.0. The results show that the working conditions in garment industry had enough amount of risk that can injured the musculoskeletal system of the workers. This research enriches the body of ergonomics knowledge in Indonesia because it is the first research in Indonesia that applied virtual environment approach to ergonomics analysis in industry.
Knowledge Management System Model Development for Higher Technical Vocational Education
Knowledge management extensively applied in enterprise because it significantly effect on enterprise effectiveness and innovation strategy. In order to create professionalism in form of competencies, education institution also implemented knowledge management concept. Education institution as a knowledge business is a suitable form for a knowledge management development, especially in vocational education. With practical approach methods and strong industrial relationship in order to improve their student skills, vocational education has plenty of knowledge sources to create knowledge as institutions intangible asset. From prior study, knowledge management system in vocational education is unstructured. This study focus in developed a KMS model in higher vocational education institution. The model showed that relation between organization environment and KM infrastructure effect on knowledge flow. KM assessment level and knowledge flow configured KM strategy to establish KM roadmap. The KMS model test on Polman Astra institution

What Drives Individuals to Dispose of Waste Mobile Phones? A Case Study in Indonesia
While
end-of-life mobile phones make up a growing fraction of the total volume of
waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) generated worldwide, their
collection rate remains low. In order to address this problem, it is necessary
to understand individual consumers’ disposal behaviors, especially in the
context of developing countries. Accordingly, the aim of this study is to
assess the determinants of disposal behaviors regarding waste mobile phones in
a country lacking well-established systems. This study conceptualizes a model
based on the theory of planned behavior and proposes five types of disposal
behaviors: keeping, reselling, donating, recycling, and discarding. Models were
tested using a survey administered to residents of Jakarta, Indonesia. Through
use of structural equation modeling, this study shows that improving
environmental awareness can stimulate subsequent responsible disposal
behaviors. It also reveals that throwing waste mobile phones into mixed bins is
common practice in Indonesia
